Spencer Devon Brewing Presents Check to MANARC to Support Veterans Moving Forward

Spencer Devon Brewing, a new craft brew pub located on 106 George St. in Fredericksburg launched their SDB mug club on Monday, September 21 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. to benefit MANARC-Borne the Battle and Veterans Moving Forward (VMF). The 6th Annual Rockabilly Hot Rod Rumble After-Show at Hard Times Four Mile Fork October 10th to Benefit MANARC

2015 Fredericksburg Scarecrow Contest

MANARC- Borne the Battle is participating in the 2015 Scarecrow contest this October along with 63 other Fredericksburg businesses. Please stop by MANARC thrift store at 107 William Street and check out their scarecrow created by the REACH Senior Beta Club and vote for MANARC! Scarecrows will be judged in three categories by locals and tourists that visit Downtown. Ballots will be available at the Visitor Center and there will be a map on the ballot to direct voters to the scarecrows. Digital voting will also be an option. The 6th Annual Rockabilly Hot Rod Rumble After-Show at Hard Times Cafe- Four Mile Fork October 10th to Benefit MANARC and Veterans Moving Forward

(FREDERICSKBURG, VA) Hard Times Cafe-Four Mile Fork will host the 6th Annual Rockabilly Hot Rod Rumble After-Show to benefit MANARC and Veterans Moving Forward (VMF) on Saturday, October 10 beginning at 6 p.m. Earlier that day, the Karb Kings Central VA will be hosting the Hot Rod Rumble Car Show at the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m

The line up for the after-show will consist of four bands, Trio Agave, Straight 8’s, Bottle Cap Rockets, and regional-national act, Gas House Gorillas. The band’s style of music ranges from surf to rockabilly, this event will give guests a chance to experience the classic car club and rockabilly culture. The cost of the event is $7 at the door, starting at 7 p.m.

Additionally, Hard Times Cafe will host a, “Miss Stars and Stripes” contest for lady contestants and is open to the public. Contestants are encouraged to dress in their best classy pin-up, patriotic or military attire. Each contestant has the opportunity to win the crown, along with cash and prizes. Contestants sign up starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.

The “Miss Stars and Stripes” contestants will have the responsibility of collecting money in the 50/50 raffle. The amount collected by each contestant will have an impact on their overall scoring. The total amount collected from the raffle will be split between the ticket winner and MANARC.

The contestants will be collecting donations from the beginning of the event until the raffle winner is called at 12:30 a.m. along with the “Miss Stars and Stripes” winners. The 1st place contestant wins $250 and 2nd place wins $50 gift certificate to Hard Times-Four Mile Fork and 2 tickets to The Fighting Jamesons concert with The Blues Buckets on October 17.

Fifty percent of raffle tickets sales will go to benefit MANARC, Borne the Battle which is a 501 © (3) non-profit thrift store operating on donations from the community with the express purpose of providing support to established veterans organizations. The Fighting Jamesons deliver a traditional style of Irish Rock with an aggressive and energetic modern-day approach. Forming in 2010, The Fighting Jamesons quickly gained a strong presence on the East Coast. MANARC Thrift Store and Non-Profit Organization Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary

(FREDERICKSBURG, VA) MANARC, Borne the Battle thrift store and non-profit organization celebrates one year anniversary Sunday, August 30 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m at 107 William Street. The thrift store will be offering a 20% discount to all customers.

MANARC will be serving complimentary refreshments and appetizers the day of the celebration. Appetizers will be provided by executive chef Christopher Henshall with Passion Fed Cuisine and there will be live music.

Over the past year, MANARC, Borne the Battle has been operating on donations from the community with the express purpose of providing support to local established Veterans organizations to improve the level of support to Veterans. MANARC-“Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, Reserve and Coast Guard”—opened its doors in September of 2014 with a mission to support Veterans.

MANARC has donated a combined $4,000 to the Semper Fi Fund, Veterans Moving Forward, Veterans on Board and VFW Post 3103 in the past year. Deborah Franks, CEO and fonder of MANARC continues to partner with businesses to raise funds to improve the level of veteran support.

“This past year has gone by fast, we have been very busy with the thrift store moving inventory in and out. We have had several successful events and have accomplished our goal to raise funds for local veterans organizations. We are very happy with all the success and the support we have received from the community,” said Franks.

Amateur Country Western artists compete in: The 32nd Annual Country Showdown is America’s largest Country music talent show. It’s designed to find the most promising country music talent in the nation and to give these performers a chance to launch their professional music careers. The Country Showdown begins each spring with over 450 local talent contests sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the US. Winners advance to their respective State competitions held at leading fairs and venues. Acts then compete for a $1,000 prize, the State Title and the opportunity to advance to one of five Regional Finals. It’s the last step before the prestigious, televised National Final. The audience cheers on the Regional Winners, as they compete for the Grand Prize of $100,000 and the title of “Best New Act in Country Music.”

The Fredericksburg Beard Coalition Hosts the 2nd Annual Beard and Mustache Competition to Benefit MANARC on June 13th

(FREDERICKSBURG, VA) The Fredericksburg Beard Coalition (FXBC) is holding its Second Annual Beard and Mustache Competition on June 13th at 6 p.m. at Hard Times Cafe Four-Mile Fork located at 5099 Jefferson Davis Hwy. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit MANARC.

MANARC, Borne the Battle, a 501( C ) 3 is a non-profit organization and thrift store, established to support veterans in the Greater Fredericksburg region. MANARC will donate 80% of all funds raised to the Semper Fi Fund and 20% would be used to fund MANARC operating expenses.

The Semper Fi Fund, and its program America’s Fund, provide immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post 9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families. “We hope that we have a successful partnership with MANARC for our upcoming competition, and are able to raise a good amount of cash for the Semper Fi Fund,” said Joe Reichard, President of FXBC.

Deborah Franks, CEO and Founder of MANARC and is honored that MANARC was asked to partner with FXBC for their annual beard and mustache competition. “We are looking forward to presenting a check to the Semper Fi Fund to help support our local area veterans,” said Franks.

The beard and mustache competition consist of 8 separate categories, which include full beard-under six inches, full beard-six inches and over, partial beard and goatee, mustache-natural, mustache-styled, freestyle, whhiskerina and military. There will be an award for the winner of each category, as well as a 50/50 raffle and a prize raffle. The cost to participate in the competition is $20 per person.
