Oktobierfest at 1781 Brewing Co. Sept.23 to benefit Spotsy Fire & Rescue
(SPOTSYLVANIA, VA) 1781 Brewing Co. will host their First Annual Oktobierfest on Sat., Sept. 23rd from 11a.m.-11p.m. A portion of ticket sales will go to benefit the Spotsylvania Fire & Rescue Dept.
Live music from Swamp Trash at 4 p.m. and The Blues Buckets at 9 p.m. German fare to include local brats will be available to purchase.Their will be various competitive beer games and activities through the day including a one mile beer race at 6p.m.
The first 100 tickets purchased online will be $15 per each. Tickets in excess of 100 purchased online and at the door will be $20 each. Firefighters and Police Officers will receive half off tickets at the door $10 each. Local breweries to include Maltese, Highmark, Adventure and Spencer Devon will also be on site selling their featured beers.
On Sunday September 24th the Oktobierfest party will continue with LOW’n’BROWS a family oriented German band performing from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Both events will occur rain or shine.

(FREDERICSKBURG, VA) Brock’s Riverside Grill with host their 5th Annual Bartenders Ball to benefit the Grace Oughton Cancer Foundation on Sunday, January 17 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at Brock’s or by calling and reserving a ticket by phone.
Several local Fredericksburg area bars will attend the ball and each will serve a specialty cocktail to guests for the chance to compete and win $1,000. Guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite cocktail and their favorite bar.
The evening will open with a solo acoustic set with local musician, Shannon Peterson, followed by D.J. Bill Carroll. There will be a silent auction with various items donated from local business and B101.5 is the official sponsor for the ball.
One hundred percent of all proceeds will go directly to benefit the Grace Oughton Cancer Foundation. Raffle items and the specialty drink winner will be announced at midnight. (FREDERICKSBURG, VA) The 10th annual Toys For Tots party will be at the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds events building on Saturday, Dec. 12th at 7 p.m. Jan and David Snow of Stafford have given their annual party a “A Red Carpet Affair” theme with a parade of stars. The Snows request that each guest bring a new unwrapped toy for a boy or girl to donate to Toys For Toys and they encourage guests to “come as the star they are or come as their favorite celebrity.”
The entertainment will begin at 7 p.m. with D.J., Eric Herod, followed by the band, Cool Breeze and guests appearances of local stars. The party will be catered by various local restaurants and a cash bar will be available to guests.
The Snows are anticipating their largest collection of toys since their first party in December 2006. Community members who cannot be present at the party still have the opportunity be a part of the cause. Several local Fredericksburg area businesses are participating by hosting Toys for Tots boxes at their location of business. Anyone is welcome to donate a new unwrapped toy to any of the drop off locations listed below and their donation will go to benefit the Snows Toys For Tots Extravaganza.
All donations from the drop off locations will be combined with the donations from the guests at the party. Several uniformed Marines will be present at the party and will collect all the toys to bring to the warehouse for local distribution. MANARC, Borne the Battle, a 501( C ) 3 is a non-profit organization and thrift store, established to support veterans in the Greater Fredericksburg region. MANARC will donate 80% of all funds raised to the Semper Fi Fund and 20% would be used to fund MANARC operating expenses.
The Semper Fi Fund, and its program America’s Fund, provide immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post 9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families. The beard and mustache competition consist of 8 separate categories, which include full beard-under six inches, full beard-six inches and over, partial beard and goatee, mustache-natural, mustache-styled, freestyle, whhiskerina and military. There will be an award for the winner of each category, as well as a 50/50 raffle and a prize raffle. The cost to participate in the competition is $20 per person.
